Nokia on Linux

Posted by rom on May 26, 2005

Nokia now supports Linux. This is great news. (thanks to infosync world for the photo)

I now have a dilemma – do I wait for this one or get the Archos PMA400? Hmmm… If the Nokia costs less than $500, then it will be a great tool for me!

The World beyond IE

Posted by rom on May 19, 2005

Don’t you just hate it when you visit an important website only to discover that it does not render properly on your preferred browser? What is worse is that the website is either an online banking service, government site or something critical. I am glad that the two sites that I frequent, Citibank and BPI Express Online support browsers such as Safari and Firefox.

If you have sites that are locked-in to some specific web browser, maybe we can do something by having a wall of shame. What do you think? Maybe these web application developers will wake up to their senses and discover that there is a world beyond Internet Explorer!

Let’s use this blog entry to list these sites. 🙂

Personal: And another year is added

Posted by rom on May 18, 2005

Today marks the birthday of Pope John Paul II. Yes, we do share the same birthday and maybe that is the reason why we are such good boys. 🙂

First of all, I’d like to thank God for giving me another year to do whatever He has set out for me here in this world. I am hoping that I am not disappointing the big Guy up there.

Next, I like to thank those who have sent their greetings early today – yes, as in 1AM (my wife) and followed by my sister at 4AM and my colleagues at work at 6AM. Although I got some email from my friends at work yesterday, I know that there are still those from other timezones who still are on the 17th. 🙂 Thanks for remembering everyone!

Anyway – I have no plans today but to work on my paper. Will be telecommuting so I’ll be staying at home the entire day. No parties, no gimmicks, nothing. I guess that this comes with age – I used to go out and spend the entire day having fun but these days, fun is spending it with the kids! In rare times like this one, I wish that my youngest is a bit older so we can easily go out and spend the day nature tripping, taking photos (photo op), malling, restaurant hopping, etc. 🙂

Happy birthday, Pope John Paul II! 😀

i.ph

Posted by rom on May 9, 2005

I attended the first Philippine Blog Summit at the UP NISMED. The event was well attended and a success basing it on the blogs of the organizers. I could have stayed the entire day but unfortunately, I had to attend to some other matters – both personal and work related.

Anyway, I wish that there will be another one, a bigger event and in a much better venue where interaction is encouraged. 🙂 Maybe more sponsors as well.

Well, each participant was given a i.ph blog account but when I tried checking it out, it gave me a database error. Oh well, so much for getting one but then again, I already have lots of blogs on the ‘Net. I am thinking of how to consolidate all the blogs into one – maybe host my own. What do you think?
